I'm ready to admit to myself that I'm currently obsessed with heritage brands. And I think it's fair to say J. Crew has had a hand in it. Ever since I spied those Belstaff bags and waxed jackets at their store in Colombus Circle, I've been hooked. Besides, if I'm going to consume, shouldn't I buy something that's going to last, both in terms of style and quality? Of course, it's no news that heritage brands are making a comeback. Seriously, the Japanese have been beating us (and the British) at our own game for a while now. It's also no secret that I'm all about the androgyny of the bag, so the resurgence of utilitarianism in fashion suits me just fine. (Wm. J. I found this book on Toast's website. It looks fabulous, although I may just be judging a book by its cover. It's described as an enchanting memoir of 10 years in Transylvania, by William Blacker, "the photos are worth the price alone." 50 years of Marimekko

Major scoop! To celebrate 50 years of Marimekko in the United States, the wife of Benjamin C. Thompson, the Architect that designed the famous Design Research store in Harvard Square, is planning an exhibit in the same space where Marimekko was first sold. The space was later occupied by Crate & Barrel, until a few months ago when, sadly, it became vacant. My sources tell me that the exhibit will be up shortly and will showcase vintage Marimekko dresses, possibly on all three floors of the glass building, and will run until September.

I've been thinking about chocolate lately since I started reading The True History of Chocolate, and I remember testing Fine & Raw chocolate at the Brooklyn Flea just before Christmas. It was delish.
